Call to Prayer – April 2019

Our God reigns all powerful and mighty

Take the good news out

The battle is fierce – persevere in prayer

Get rid of idols – be cleansed

Go deeper together

Time to bear fruit

God is speaking to us about His power and might. He sets prisoners free. All wisdom, knowledge and everything we need comes from Him. He has given us Jesus who has the key to every problem and guides us by His Spirit. We are being asked to TRUST Him and only Him and go deeper with Him. To reach out to others using the tool He has given WTC, the four areas of brokenness. He is asking us to take this good news out.

He warns us that the battle is fierce and tells us to persevere in prayer. He will strengthen and uphold us, but there are idols that we need to recognize in ourselves and be willing to let go. Idols of self idolatry, religious idols, idols of judging, criticizing others, hatred, bitterness, idols of our own self will and also inherited idols. All of this stops us loving and growing together in Jesus. None of us have power only Jesus. We ask and He gives. We TRUST HIM not ourselves. He wants to cleanse and strengthen us by His Spirit and bring us into a place of love and harmony together, encouraging and building each up. Persevering in prayer for each other, building a mighty army which trusts in Him alone. We are getting there but we are not there yet, (none of us are there yet). It is time to bear fruit. The fruit trees are on the horizon.

Please take these words from the Lord Jesus seriously. Keep faithful in prayer. Pray that we will trust Jesus much more. Give thanks for all He has done in WTC and in ourselves. Pray about self idols and be cleansed. Keep growing together in Jesus. These are our prayer weapons until the next call to pray day. Use them daily, sometimes hourly and sometimes minute by minute to enable us to gain more trust and more strength in Jesus. OUR GOD REIGNS – GO FOR IT.

Our God reigns all powerful and mighty

Song: Our God reigns

Scripture: Is 41:2-4

Who has stirred up this king from the east, rightly calling him to God’s service? Who gives this man victory over many nations and permits him to trample their kings underfoot? With his sword, he reduces armies to dust. With his bow, he scatters them like chaff before the wind.

He chases them away and goes on safely, though he is walking over unfamiliar ground. Who has done such mighty deeds, summoning each new generation from the beginning of time?

It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last. I alone am he.”

Psalm 146 :7-10

He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind,

the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,  the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. The Lord reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Psalm 147 :12 – 14

Extol the Lord, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.

He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.

He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.

Psalm 136 :4 Give thanks to the Lord who does great wonders and Hid love endures forever. There was recognition of the many years that the Lord has been merciful to WTC.

Isaiah 52 ;7  How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!

Take the good news out

Scripture: Isaiah 52:7

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!

Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”’

Picture : WTC has been given two things, a key and bread:

Word : The answer is Jesus:

WTC has been given the Master key – that opens anything. It opens every prison door that keeps people captive. It does this because it’s not only a master key, it is also the “Master’s key” – it belongs to the Master – Jesus.

Scripture: I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. Revelation 1: 18

Picture of a bakery. WTC above the door. Freshly baked bread is being given away free. The bread is Jesus.

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty”.

John 6: 35

Picture of people crying out to be set free from their prisons, they are hungry and thirsty. The answer is Jesus. Will those in WTC take Jesus to these people who are crying out? He calls us to feed the hungry. The Lord says the world is mine; you have no idea what I can do. It’s His power, His Might not ours

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:10-11

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse nor his delight in the legs of the warrior; the Lord delights in those who fear him who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Matthew 5:13-16

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

The battle is fierce. PERSEVERE IN PRAYER. Pray for one another

The battle is fierce

Word: “You’re in my army, l don’t fight with swords and gun but will equip you with everything you need to fight the enemy.

“Although the battle seems fierce, NEVER GIVE UP for the rewards are great”.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong”.

1 Corinthians 16:13

The need to be claiming the ground by the power of the cross. Pushing back the darkness.

The importance of being covered in the blood of Jesus in all we do.

Philippians 2:13 came to mind. Also the words ‘The battle belongs to the Lord’

Picture of an army, weapons.

Psalm 149:6-9 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron to carry out the sentence written against them, this is the glory of all his faithful people.

Persevere in prayer

Digging down to undermine foundations of a strong tower. Got quite a long way, but more to do. Be encouraged. Carry on digging, but recognise the amount that has been achieved already.

Don’t get weary. Wait on the Lord for renewed strength (Isaiah 40:31)

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

There was a prayer picture of someone pushing steadily through those broad clear plastic strips you can get to separate different areas. The sense was that you needed to push through steadily and with confidence.

There was peace about this prayer and a sense of God saying with gentleness  “Of course I will answer”

Also ‘Ask, seek, knock and expect great things from your God’ and ‘God will do what is best for us’

Hosea 12: 6 came to mind especially relating to waiting and continuously watching and being patient.

A word – perseverance! Persevere, do not give up….great temptation to give up. God knows your work, He will reward you.

Matthew 5:11-12

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Scripture: Ephesians 6:18-20

‘.With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.’

Lamentation 3:28-33 (The Message)

When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence.

Bow in prayer. Don’t ask questions: Wait for hope to appear.

Don’t run from trouble. Take it full-face. The “worst” is never the worst.

31-33 Why? Because the Master won’t ever walk out and fail to return.

If he works severely, he also works tenderly. His stockpiles of loyal love are immense. He takes no pleasure in making life hard, in throwing roadblocks in the way:

Get rid of your Idols. Be cleansed

Get rid of your idols

Word: What are your idols?

Word: Disinterest.

Picture – Two wolves snarling at each other, bearing their teeth, tearing

each other’s flesh viciously. Cruel, merciless fight.

Matthew 5:43, 44

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy’ but I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”,

Matthew 5:21,22

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Anger, division, sniping, harsh words.

Picture of an arrow being shot into a person’s eye

Matthew 23:37

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!”

Joshua 24: 22 and 23

Then Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord, to serve him.” And they said, “We are witnesses.” He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Jeremiah 6:16

Thus says the Lord, “Stand by the roads, and look and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.

But they said, “We will not walk in it.”

Lamentations 3: 28 – 33 (message)

When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself, Enter the silence bow in prayer, don’t ask questions wait for hope to appear, . Don’t run from trouble, take it full face the “worst” is never the worst. Why because the master won’t ever walk out and fail to return. If he works severely, he will also work tenderly. His stockpile of Loyal Love are immense, he takes no pleasure in making life hard in throwing roadblocks in the way.

Isaiah 40:27-31

Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel,

“My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”?

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.

Word: Dusting Down, Dusting the doors.

Picture of a traditional church building, some of the doors were standing unused, covered in dust sense God saying “Your doors have got dusty”, it’s time to dust off the doors to the people and then the beauty will be seen.

Word: We are not called to be God’s puppets for we have freedom of choice. It’s in surrendering our wills to Jesus that we discover God’s will; and the power of His Spirit to His will. This brings joy to His heart and satisfaction to ours.

Be cleansed

Picture: Bowl with fire in it.

Words: “Let my light shine” – this was not said but loudly roared.

God says, “Do you know who I am?”

Picture of the water of life, JESUS, wanting to cleanse us from all our idols.

“To make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word” Ephesians 5: 26

“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life”. Revelation 22:17

Word: Sacrifice

Song: ‘Jesus all for Jesus……..all of my ambitions hopes and plans, I surrender these into Your hands’

1 Peter 5:6-7

So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; He’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. Keep a cool head, stay alert. The devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up, you’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times.. It’s the same with Christians all over the world, /so keep a firm grip on the faith, the suffering won’t last forever

Isaiah 55:3

Open your ears and come to me, I will make an everlasting promise to you, the blessing I promised to David.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away

Ezekiel 11:19-20

I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

Song You are my hiding place I WILL TRUST IN YOU

Song: All hail the Lamb

Song: Breathe on me breath of God

Song: Open our eyes Lord we want to see Jesus

Go deeper together

Word: Go Deeper! – Go together!

Picture: of a child hanging onto the side of the swimming pool, afraid to let go. Dad in the deep water encouraging the child to come inside the water encouraging the child to swim out.

The child jumped in, the child turned to a whole bunch of people. The child was a picture of the whole WTC the encouragement is from the Holy Spirit encouraging us to step out and go deeper together.

We felt called to sing the song:-

Love is flowing like a river. Peace is flowing like a river. Flowing out through you and me.

There was a real connection with the line ‘setting all the captives free’ and a wave of thankfulness for all God has done through WTC in the past.

Pray for one another;

Word: The strong have to carry the weak and the Lord will renew our strength. What we have been given by the Lord is not to be kept to ourselves but used to help other people.

Song: Father make us one, that the world may know thou has sent the son, Father make us one, behold how pleasant and how good it is brethren to dwell in unity, for there the Lord commands the blessing, Life forevermore.

Psalm 133 The word HARMONY stood out to me, likening it to the anointing oil poured on the priest Aaron (v 2) Therefore it is holy.

Picture of people celebrating, all wearing new, bright clothes. “Clothes of Heaven”.

Colossians 3: 12-14 (14. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect HARMONY.)

Time to bear fruit

Rev 3:8

I know your deeds. I have placed before you an open door that no-one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word & have not denied my name. I have loved you. You have kept my command to endure patiently….

Picture of fruitful trees on the horizon

Word : “Choose to walk in new way”

Picture of a small steam with pebbles and stones under the water. There are people on the bank with their feet dangling in the water enjoying the stream. Children in dinghies are learning to move between the stones. Adults are showing them how to paddle around the rocks. Some children and teenagers are being taught to make stronger boats and to guide them through deeper water. The stream becomes a much wider river. Here the children are learning sailing skills to move skilfully through the immense torrent in the wider river. They eventually make it through to a huge river where there are fruit trees of every kind

Ezekiel 47:12,13

Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.

Isaiah 42:6-9

“I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand;

I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison,

Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.  I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another Nor My praise to carved images.

Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare;

Before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

Psalm 37:7-11

Be still before the Lord & wait patiently for him….

but the meek shall inherit the land & enjoy great peace.

Psalm 37:34

Wait for the Lord & keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land.

Psalm 23: 5 Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anoints my head with oil; my cup runs over.

Isaiah 52 :7  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publishes peace; that brings good tidings of good, that publishes salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Pray for one another;

Revelation 21:7Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children”

Ezekiel 48 :35b “And the name of the city from that time on will be: the Lord is there.”
